About Richard Donaldson LCSW
I grew up in Orange County, CA. I graduated from Loma Linda University with a Bachelor's Degree in Theology, and also earned a Master of Divinity degree from Andrew's University. I worked as a youth pastor, religion teacher, and senior pastor for 20 years in Oregon and Central California. As a pastor I decided to get specialized training in counseling and earned a Master's Degree in Social Work at Portland State University. I was licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 1991.
I began working as a full time counselor in 1991, working for 17 years as a therapist with the Stanislaus County Mental Health Department. During this time I began my private counseling practice in Turlock.
As a Christian and former pastor I am able to work with Christian clients who want their spiritual beliefs to be part of their counseling process. I am also respectful of people who have no faith, or a different faith than mine. If you choose me as a counselor, I will accept you where you are and help you reach your healing goals.
I am married with 3 daughters, a son and 7 grand children.
In my personal life I have struggled with my own challenges. I bring to my counseling work my professional training, the lessons of my life experience and the wisdom gained from 30 years of counseling.
My counseling office is a safe place to honestly face your challenges and pain. I am a good listener.
